Live Music, Bingo and a Barcade Round Out the Salem Area’s Nightlife Scene

While you’re exploring all of the wine, waterfalls, art walks and historic gems in the Salem region during the day, be sure to save up a little energy to experience its nightlife, too. That’s right, Oregon’s capital city and surrounding Mid-Willamette Valley area offers plenty of things to do after the sun goes down – and the best part is that they happen mostly in small, intimate settings with a relaxed vibe.
The Space Concert Club
The Space is a one-of-a-kind venue located in West Salem that offers a variety of live entertainment at least three nights a week. The laid-back lounge atmosphere is the perfect spot for enjoying outstanding local bands, comedians and poets. Enjoy a late-night cocktail and delicious vegan dishes created by chef and co-owner Summer Keightley.
Taproot Café & Lounge
Opened in 2015, this downtown restaurant quickly garnered a following for its handcrafted cocktails, tasty food and hip but easygoing vibe. In recent years, it’s also become a go-to spot for nightlife, showcasing some of the region’s top musical talent on Friday and Saturday evenings.
The Coin Jam
Did you know that Salem is home to one of Oregon’s few 21 and over arcades? The Coin Jam will delight fans of those nostalgic video and arcade games such as Ms. Pac-man, Mario Bros and other cult classics. Challenge your friends to a game of Air Hockey while you nosh on savory bites paired with a glass of local beer, wine or cider.

Capitol City Theater
Located in downtown Salem, Capitol City Theater offers comedy acts nearly every night of the week. Drop in for some improv, catch a touring artist - or if you’re a budding comedian, sign up for Open Mic night.
In addition to serving up mouth-watering pizza and classic Italian American fare, Christo’s Pizzeria features some of the best musicians in the Pacific Northwest and beyond. Every Thursday, enjoy the musical stylings of jazz greats in Christo’s intimate lounge.
B&G Bingo
If you think Bingo is entertainment from a bygone era, think again. This age-old British pastime is said to be making a comeback, popping up at bars and hangouts across the U.S. In Salem, the place to play is B&G Bingo, which offers sessions every night of the week. Plus, all proceeds support the Boys & Girls Club of Salem, Marion & Polk Counties.
The Elsinore Theatre
Named after the sixteenth-century Danish castle in William Shakespeare’s Hamlet and first opened in 1926, the Elsinore Theater is considered one of Oregon’s most delightful destinations to enjoy nighttime entertainment year-round. From nationally recognized musical artists to live theatre, comedy and a classic film series, you will be awed not only by the splendor of the theatre but the outstanding performances that happen there. Classic films are shown most Wednesday evenings.

Mac’s Place
Mac’s Place is located in the oldest building on the National Historic Register in Silverton and is well-known in the region for its live music and eclectic menu that features dishes like whole trout, elk burgers and southern fried frog legs. This local hangout also boasts a year-round, outdoor seating area overlooking Silver Creek.
The Fireside Lounge at the Oregon Garden Resort
Located inside the Oregon Garden Resort, the Fireside Lounge is a cozy gathering place featuring live music every weekend and happy hour specials every evening from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. The Lounge’s focal point is a central fireplace surrounded by couches, where guests enjoy wine, beer, seasonal cocktails and a special lounge menu.
Spirit Mountain Casino
Located just 25 miles west of Salem, Spirit Mountain is a Las-Vegas style casino offering five distinct dining options, slot machines and table games, along with world-class entertainers on the main stage and live music almost every night inside the Mountain View Sports Bar. The Casino is open 24 hours.

Studio 154 @ Independence Grill & Bar
Studio 154, located in downtown Independence, offers live music on Wednesday, Friday and Saturday evenings. Wednesday is open mic night, giving locals a chance to showcase their talents, while Friday and Saturdays feature regional acts. Pair your evening fun with a late-night snack - we recommend the hand cut tater tots served with housemade dipping sauces.
