  1. Bush Barn Art Center Holiday Showcase 
    Buy art, including jewelry, textiles and greeting cards, from regional artisans at the Bush Barn Art Center’s Holiday Showcase. The shop is open through Dec. 24 in Salem.
  2. "Dashing Through the Snow"
    Ring in the holiday season with Pentacle Theatre’s Dashing Through the Snow Nov. 29 through Dec. 22. This wacky Christmas comedy is suitable for mature audiences only. Tickets are required. 
  3. "Twas the Night Before Christmas"
    Follow along with a mouse, an elf and a young girl as they go on a quest to find out Santa’s reason for missing their house last year in Enlightened Theatrics’ presentation of Ken Ludwig’s ‘Twas the Night Before Christmas Nov. 29 through Dec. 22. All ages are welcome and tickets are required. 
  4. Christmas in the Garden 
    The Oregon Garden, in Silverton, boasts more than one million Christmas lights this holiday season. This award-winning event will also feature ice skating, a traditional German Christmas Market, snowless tubing, festive music, photos with Santa Claus and holiday treats until Jan. 5. Tickets are required. 
  5. Holiday Open Museums 
    TheBush House Museum andDeepwood Museum & Gardens, in Salem, will offer free admission on Dec. 1 and Dec. 8. Adorned in holiday decorations, the historic homes will offer live music, self-guided tours and histories of holiday traditions.
  6. Holiday Film Series: “Scrooged”, “The Santa Clause” and “Elf”  
    Join the Elsinore Theatre, in downtown Salem, for showings of three holiday favorites this month. The theatre will show “Scrooged” on Dec. 2, “The Santa Clause” on Dec. 4 and “Elf” on Dec. 9. Tickets are required.
  7. Ugly Sweater Party  
    All ages are invited to an ugly sweater party at B² Taphouse & Brewery, in Salem, Dec. 4. The uglier the sweater, the better.  
  8. Holidays at the Capitol
    Celebrate the holidays at the Oregon State Capitol in Salem. The Capitol will host free musical performances and festive decorations in the Rotunda Dec. 4 through Dec. 21. 
  9. “Something Red” 2019 
    “Something Red” is an art walk to highlight the holiday season in downtown Salem. Works of art, all featuring the color red, will be displayed in local businesses through Dec. 27. There will be a reception and awards ceremony on Dec. 4 at Elsinore Framing and Fine Art Gallery.  
  10. Sandy Claws Paint and Play 
    Head to Ticket to Play Board Game Cafe Dec. 5 for a festive night of painting a step-by-step illustration inspired by Tim Burton’s The Nightmare Before Christmas followed by open game play with the cafe’s boardgames. Ages 8 and up are welcome to attend and tickets are required.
  11. Christmas in Hudson Hall 
    Slow down and focus on the spirit of the holiday season with an evening of choral singing and audience carols Dec. 5-6. Hudson Hall, located at Willamette University, will be decorated for the season. Tickets are required. 
  12. Hazelnut Fest and German Holiday Market 
    The annual Hazelnut Fest in Mt. Angel, Oregon, is Dec. 6-8. This German-style holiday market showcases regional arts and crafts, Oregon wineries and breweries and foods that feature hazelnuts. Admission to the festival is free.
  13. 2019 Handmade Market 
    In need of unique Christmas gifts? Make your way to the Salem Etsy Team’s Handmade Market at the Oregon State Fairgrounds on Dec. 7, where you can browse more than 170 vendor booths for jewelry, baked goods, vintage items and more. The first 100 shoppers will take home a free swag bag! Admission is free.   
  14. Christmas in the Country & Light Parade 
    Visit Sublimity, Oregon on Dec. 7 to enjoy their annual Christmas parade, themed “A Candy Land Christmas” this year. Enjoy caroling and a tree lighting following the parade. The event is free.
  15. IDA’s Parade of Lights 
    The Independence Downtown Association’s annual Parade of lights is Dec. 7 in downtown Independence, Oregon. Check out the colorfully-lit floats, vehicles and animals at this free, family-friendly event.
  16. Newell Pioneer Village Candlelight Tour 
    Newell Pioneer Village, in St. Paul, Oregon, will come alive on Dec. 7 with costumed interpreters. Partake in family-friendly holiday activities, listen to music and stories and enjoy snacks throughout the village. Admission is required.
  17. Winter Family Fest 
    Enjoy a free kid-friendly Christmas celebration at Riverview Park in Independence, Oregon Dec. 7. This new holiday event features a real snow experience, appearances by Elsa & Olaf, ice sculpting and more.
  18. Holiday Tree Lighting Events
    Head to Dallas, Oregon on Dec. 7 for the annual lighting of their Christmas Sequoia. In Aumsville, Santa will make his rounds throughout the community in the morning and afternoon Dec.14, followed by a traditional tree-lighting in Porter-Boone Park. 
  19. American Ballet: A Children’s Nutcracker 
    See the American Ballet Academy perform “A Children’s Nutcracker,” featuring beautiful dancing and colorful costumes, at Salem’s Elsinore Theatre Dec. 7-8. Tickets are required.
  20. Aurora Wine and Chocolate Walk 
    Grab a passport and take a tour of historic Aurora, Oregon, Dec. 7-8. The passport will take you to several businesses throughout town, where you’ll be able to taste local wines and artisan chocolates. Tickets are required.
  21. Curiously Wonderful Christmas Stories
    Join Theatre 33 for an evening of storytelling and Christmas cheer as they celebrate holiday traditions from around the world select days starting Dec. 13 through Dec. 20. Bring the kids, enjoy snacks and get in on the Christmas raffles. $12-$15
  22. Salem Holiday Market 
    The Salem Holiday Market is celebrating 20 years! The Oregon State Fairgrounds will host the annual market Dec. 13-15. More than 250 artisans will sell handmade and homegrown products. There will also be holiday contests, children’s activities, entertainment and door prizes. Admission is required.
  23. Holiday Party and Latte Art Throwdown 
    Don your ugly sweater, bring your friends and witness the latte art throw down at Broadway Coffeehouse’s holiday party Dec. 14. The night will bring giveaways, drinks, vendors and more.  
  24. Keizer Holiday Lights Parade 
    Celebrate the season in Keizer at this year’s Holiday Lights Parade, themed “Toys and Tinsel” on Dec. 14. The road will be lit with many colorful and festive floats. Come bundled up with the whole family to this free holiday event!
  25. Keizer Jingle Dash 5k 
    Keizer will host a 5K run/walk on Dec. 14. Run, walk or stroll dressed in your best holiday outfit or costume! Registration is required.
  26. Stayton Holiday Kickoff 
    The Community of Stayton will have its holiday kickoff Dec. 14 with the holiday shopping and the film “Arthur 3D Christmas” followed by hot cocoa, caroling and a tree lighting. Admission is one can of food or $1 per person. 
  27. 42nd Annual Silver Falls Christmas Festival
    Make a wreath, build a gingerbread house or take a winter hike at the Silver Falls Christmas Festival on Dec. 15 in Silverton, Oregon. Festivalgoers will also enjoy live music, holiday lights and a visit with Santa Claus. The event is free, but parking is $5 per vehicle. 
  28. Sing We Now of Christmas 
    Celebrate the season Dec. 15 at Salem’s Elsinore Theatre with traditional carols performed by an ensemble dressed in Victorian costume. The audience can participate in sing-along carols and a special story for children. Tickets are required, children 12 and under are free. 
  29. A Christmas Story: The Musical 
    Back by popular demand, “A Christmas Story – The Musical” returns to the Elsinore Theatre Dec. 17-29. Tickets are required.  
  30. Capitol City Classic 
    The Capitol City Classic returns for its fifth year Dec. 18-23 at Willamette University in Salem. The holiday invitational basketball tournament will showcase 16 high school teams, including the nation’s number 1-ranked player and several teams from Oregon. There will also be a three-point shooting contest and dunk contest. Tickets are required. 
  31. Magic at the Mill 
    Experience holiday magic at the Willamette Heritage Center, in Salem, during its annual family-friendly holiday lights display Dec. 19-23. The event will feature children’s activities, thousands of twinkling lights, tours of historic buildings, demonstrations, seasonal treats and shopping. Tickets are required.
  32. Christmas Tunes with DeeDee Lavell & Nathan 
    Ankeny Vineyard, in Salem, will host Australian singer DeeDee Lavell Dec. 21. Sip a glass as your ears feast on DeeDee’s smooth renditions of Christmas favorites.
  33. Menorah Lighting 
    Salem’s 4th annual Menorah Lighting will once again take place at Mirror Park on Dec. 22. Come and celebrate the evening with live music, a grand Chocolate Coin drop by Salem’s Fire Department Ladder truck, and donuts. Free.
  34. Pajama Party with Santa & Friends 
    Visit with Santa and friends in the comfort of your pajamas at Salem’s Riverfront Carousel on Dec. 22-23. There will be unlimited carousel rides, a keepsake craft and snacks. Tickets are $20 per person and reservations are required.
  35. Salem Tuba Holiday 
    Musicians from all corners of the northwest come together in this annual tradition to bring holiday cheer through the sounds of conical bore instruments including tubas, euphoniums, baritone horns and Sousaphones. Tickets are required to attend this family-friendly event at the Elsinore Theatre Dec. 24.
  36. Free Carousel Rides and Food Drive
    On Christmas Day, enjoy free, unlimited carousel rides at Salem’s Riverfront Carousel. Please consider bringing non-perishable or canned foods to donate to the Marion-Polk Food Share.
  37. Noon Years Eve Party
    Children of all ages are invited to ring in the new year during the day at the Gilbert House Children’s Museum, in Salem, on Dec. 31. There will be a balloon drop, crafts and activities! Admission is required.
