Summer returns this month, along with some of the Salem, Oregon, area’s most popular festivals and events! From Make Music Day to State Parks Day, there is something for everyone!
2. American Ballet Academy: “A Midsummer Night’s Dream”
American Ballet Academy students will perform the children’s rendition of Shakespeare’s “A Midsummer Night’s Dream” at the Elsinore Theatre, in Salem, on June 9-10. Tickets are required.
3. Bacon, Bacon, Bacon, Father’s Day at Trinity Vineyards
Trinity Vineyards, in Salem, will be pairing bacon-inspired treats with wine on June 17. Additionally, there will be craft beer, cider, yard games and music. Tastings are $10.
4. Brooks Gardens
Attend bloom season at Brooks Gardens, in Brooks, Oregon, through June 9. Explore three acres of iris gardens or wander into the peony fields, where more than 100 varieties of peonies bloom.
5. Bush’s Pasture Park Exploration Day
Celebrate the heritage of Bush’s Pasture Park, in Salem, at Exploration Day on June 16. The free event will have hands-on history and art activities and discounted tours of the Bush House Museum.

7. Carousel’s 17th Birthday Party
Salem’s Riverfront Carousel is turning 17! On June 2, there will be $1 carousel rides, complimentary cupcakes and face painting.
8. Celebrate Dad at Cubanisimo Vineyards
Dads are invited to enjoy complimentary wine tastings at Cubanisimo Vineyards, in Salem, on June 17!
9. Daddio’s wine-around car show at Keeler Estate
Cars will be displayed among the vines at Keeler Estate Vineyard, in Amity, Oregon, on June 17. There will be live music from the 1950s, tasting flights and a barbeque lunch. Admission is $40.
10. Dog Days of Summer at Eola Hills
Take your four-legged best friend to Eola Hills’ Legacy Estate Vineyard, in Salem, every Friday evening for the Dog Days of Summer. There will be toys, treats and water for the pups and wine and music for you!
11. Gaiety Hollow Open Gardens and Tour
The Lord & Schryver Conservancy will open the Gaiety Hollow gardens, in Salem, for open gardens on June 10 and 16 and a guided tour on June 23. On the guided tour, trained docents will walk visitors through the grounds and discuss the history and design of the gardens. Volunteers will be on hand to answer questions during the open gardens.
12. Make Music Day
Dozens of musicians, both amateur and professional, will hold free concerts across Salem on June 21 for Make Music Day. You’ll find performances throughout downtown Salem, including at the Oregon State Capitol, Riverfront Park and outside of restaurants and businesses.
13. Oregon Garden BrewCamp
Camp under the stars while enjoying three days of craft beer and wine tasting, live music and an 80-acre botanical garden at the Oregon Garden’s BrewCamp on June 15-17. Located in Silverton, Oregon, the festival will also feature food, vendors and activities. Tickets are required.
14. Pollinator Festival
Dancing Oaks Nursery and Gardens, in Monmouth, Oregon, will host educational activities for kids and adults, food and music at the Pollinator Festival on June 23. There will be pollinator-friendly plants for sale and local experts available to answer questions.
15. Rafns’ Sous Chef Dinner
chef Paola Garcia will create her own four-course menu at Rafns’ Restaurant, in downtown Salem, on June 13. Reservations are required.

16. Robert Bibler: Works on Paper
Robert Bibler has combined a fascination with cinematic storytelling, classic film and Renaissance art to create a beautifully-rendered and thoughtful body of work. His work will be on display at the Hallie Ford Museum of Art, in Salem, throughout the month of June.
17. Salem’s First Wednesday
Head to downtown Salem on June 6 for First Wednesday! There will be an alley fair from 5-8 p.m., free yoga at Riverfront Park, live music and local food and beverages.
18. Science Night for Adults at Gilbert House
The Gilbert House Children’s Museum, in Salem, will host an adults-only Science Night on June 21. There will be live music, food, adult beverages, and, of course, science. Tickets are available at the door.
19. “SHOUT! The Mod Musical”
Set in swinging London, “SHOUT! The Mod Musical” chronicles the liberation of five women who redefine themselves in an era of changing gender roles. Enlightened Theatrics will host performances of the show at Salem’s Grand Theatre through June 10.
20. Sounds of Summer Sundays at Airlie Winery
Pack a picnic, sip a little vino and enjoy the afternoon with great music at Airlie Winery, in Monmouth, this summer. Airlie will host live music on the first and third Sunday of every month.
21. State Parks Day
In honor of State Parks Day, many Oregon State Parks will offer free camping and parking and special events on June 2. Locally, there will be free weekend fishing at Champoeg State Heritage Area and Detroit Lake State Recreation Area, a guided hike at the State Capitol State Park and the grand opening of the Catamount and Newt Trail at Silver Fall State Park.

22. Summer Grilling: Big BBQ & Raucous Reds
Chef Abby will pull out her big charcoal barbeque at Brooks Winery, in Amity, on June 16. She’ll show you her tips and tricks for grilling a variety of meats and seafood and help you develop your own signature rub to take home. Tickets are required.
23. Taste of Woodburn
Woodburn, Oregon, has the largest selection of Mexican restaurants per capita in the state. Taste the different foods and flavors at the town’s Taste of Woodburn event June 2-3.
24. Timbers U23
The Timbers U23, an amateur team affiliated with the Portland Timbers, will play at McCulloch Stadium, in Salem, on June 5, 22 and 24. The team consists of standout players from collegiate and youth programs throughout the country. Tickets are required.
25. Vintage Airstream Club Open House
Head to the Oregon State Fairgrounds, in Salem, on June 24 to view more than 25 vintage Airstreams. The trailers will be open for the public to walk through and talk to the owners. The event is from 12 p.m. to 3 p.m.
26. WillaMutt Strut 5k Fun Run/Walk
The Willamette Humane Society is hosting its annual WillaMutt Strut on June 10 at Salem’s Riverfront Park. The 5k run and walk will benefit adoptable cats and dogs.
27. Wine & Workshop Wednesday: Japanese Maple Kokedama
Al’s Garden and Home, in Woodburn, will host a hands-on workshop to create a Japanese Maple Kokedama on June 6. Kokedama, which means moss ball, is a style of Japanese bonsai that is planted in a ball of soil held together by moss and string. Local wine will be available. Preregistration is required and attendees must be 21 years or older.
28. World Beat Festival
Immerse yourself in the music, dance, food and traditions of more than 70 nations and cultures at the World Beat Festival. The festival, held in Salem’s Riverfront Park from June 30 to July 1, will feature performances, vendors and children's activities.
29. Yesterdayland: Innovations of the Past
Explore the innovations of the early 20th century and how these machines influenced our community at the Willamette Heritage Center, in Salem, starting June 8.
30. Yoga at the Vineyard
Enjoy an outdoor yoga class and wine tasting at Coria Estates, in Salem, on June 9. Registration is available online.
