Spring is here! Enjoy the season with outdoor activities, festivals and more this month in the Salem and Mid-Willamette Valley region. 

1. Adult Easter Egg Scavenger Hunt
Adults will have their shot at this Easter egg scavenger hunt at Chateau Bianca Winery, in Dallas, Oregon, on April 20. Start the morning with mimosas and coffee, and then head off to the vineyard in search of wine! This event is for ages 21+ and tickets are required.
 
2. Asian and Pacific Islander Day
The third annual Asian and Pacific Islander Day at the Oregon State Capitol, in Salem, will happen on April 27. There will be music and dance performances from many cultures, as well as activities and informational booths. This event is free to attend.
 

3. Banff Mountain Film Festival World Tour
The Banff Mountain Film Festival World Tour, featuring the best in outdoor adventure film, will make a stop at Salem’s Elsinore Theatre on April 22. Tickets are required.
 
4. Brewstock
Bring your friends to Sparky’s Brewing Company, in Salem, on April 20 for a Woodstock-inspired event. There will be ciders, beers, live music and munchies.
 
5. Capital Calligraphers’ Show
The Elsinore Gallery, in Salem, will host the Capital Calligraphers, a group dedicated to bringing the unique art of calligraphy back to life, on April 3-24.
 
6. Carriage House Tea
Enjoy a peaceful afternoon of tea, finger foods and amazing desserts at the Carriage House Tea, which will take place on April 20 at MaMere’s Guest House in Monmouth, Oregon. Tickets are required.
 
7. Cecil & Molly Smith Garden
The Cecil & Molly Smith Garden, in St. Paul, Oregon, is an internationally-known garden with more than 600 varieties of rhododendrons and azaleas. The garden welcomes visitors on select Saturdays and Sundays in April and May.

8. Cherry City Orchid Society Show & Sale
The Cherry City Orchid Society will host its annual show on April 6-7 at Bonaventure of Salem. Stop in to enjoy hundreds of plants and related products provided by vendors and growers from the region. The event is free to attend.
 
9. Dancing with the Salem Stars
Don’t miss Dancing with the Salem Stars—Music Legends Night, where six Salem stars will compete with a series of dances dedicated to iconic musicians, including Dolly Parton, Michael Jackson and Shakira! Laugh along with the judges, marvel at the quick feet and vote for your favorite dancer on April 20 at the Elsinore Theatre. Tickets are required.
 
10. Deepwood Easter Eggstravaganza
Bring the whole family to Deepwood Museum & Garden’s annual Easter Eggstravaganza, in Salem, on April 20. Children, ages 10 and under, will have the chance to fill their baskets and participate in other fun activities. Pre-registration is required.
 
11. Earth Day at The Oregon Garden
The Oregon Garden, in Silverton, Oregon, celebrates Earth Day with free admission on April 20. Bring the family to enjoy a day of education and entertainment. A $5 donation is encouraged.

12. Earth Day Litter Cleanup
Celebrate Earth Day by doing something positive for your community on April 13. Marion County Environmental Services will host a litter cleanup around East Salem on April 13. Bags, gloves, vests and pickers will be provided.
 
13. Fabracadabra: The Magic of Quilting
The Mid-Valley Quilt Guild invites you to join them in keeping the folk art of quilting alive and coming to Fabracadabra: The Magic of Quilting, a three-day showcase of work done by local and regional quilters. The showcase is April 18-20 at the Salem Armory Auditorium. Tickets are required.
 
14. Gaiety Hollow Garden Tours
Open gardens and garden tours return to Gaiety Hollow, a historic Lord & Schryver garden in Salem, this month. The garden will be open to the public on April 7 and the evening of April 11. Admission is required.
 
15. GardenPalooza
More than 40 vendors will attend Gardenpalooza at Fir Point Farms, in Aurora, Oregon, on April 6. You can shop at the country store, eat delicious food and see hundreds of plants and tools on display. The event is free to attend.
 
16. Gem and Mineral Show
The Willamette Agate and Mineral Society presents their 64th annual rock and gem show April 19-21 at the Polk County Fairgrounds in Rickreall, Oregon. The event includes various dealers, demonstrators, kids activities, auctions and incredible display cases. Tickets are required.
 
17. Lost in the Sauce 50K
Challenge yourself this spring to run in Salem’s newest 50K footrace through Salem’s Minto-Brown Island Park on April 20. Not quite ready for a 50K? You can also run in the 10K or 30K. Registration is required.
 
18. Monster Cookie Ride
For more than 40 years, the Monster Cookie Metric Century Bicycle Ride has taken riders on a mostly flat, 62-mile course from downtown Salem to Champoeg State Park and back. This year’s ride takes place on April 28, featuring the classic 62-mile ride and a 34-mile ride for those looking for a shorter route. The reward at the end is a monster cookie! Registration is required.
 

19. Oregon Ag Fest
Learn about the vastness that is Oregon agriculture in a fun and interactive way at the Oregon Ag Fest, an event intended to educate families on where our food, flora and fiber comes from, at the Oregon State Fairgrounds, in Salem, on April 27-28. Tickets are required, ages 12 and under receive free admission.
 
20. Paint your Pet at Left Coast Estate
Take a guided painting class of your own pet at Left Coast Estate, in Rickreall, on April 7. Enjoy a glass of wine while you paint. Pre-registration is required.
 
21. Pow-Wow
The Multicultural Student Union of Western Oregon University, in Monmouth, will host its 26th annual Pow-Wow, which includes a dinner and a dance competition open to all, on April 27. Admission is free.
 
22. Salem Birthday Expo
Learn what it takes to throw a great birthday party and find some inspiration at the Salem Birthday Expo at the Kroc Center, in Salem, on April 13. With 50 different vendors to choose from, there is plenty to explore. Admission is free.
 
23. Shakespeare at the Market
During the month of April, the Salem Theatre Network will host special performances at the Salem Saturday Market every Saturday. These will include everything from Shakespeare to musicals and will involve various local theater groups, schools and organizations. 

24. Spring Plant Sale
The Mission Street Parks Conservancy’s 36th annual Spring Plant Sale will feature the usual vegetable starts, hanging baskets, annuals and perennials, but will also include cider from 1859 Cider Co. and Minto Island Growers' coffee, milkshakes and pastries. The sale is April 12-13 at Bush’s Pasture Park in Salem.
 
25. Spring Wine & Spirits Fair
Get a taste of the variety of wine, spirits and beer that Oregon has to offer at Spirit Mountain Casino, in Grand Ronde, Oregon, on April 13. The event is free to attend.
 
26. The Great Junk Hunt
Browse through thousands of goods of all varieties, including industrial, vintage, handmade, farmhouse and more, at The Great Junk Hunt on April 12-13 at the Oregon State Fairgrounds. Tickets are required, ages 12 and under receive free admission.
 
27. Watershed Recreation Fair
There are many recreational opportunities found within the Luckiamute Watershed, including hiking, fishing and birdwatching. You will learn about these and more at the Watershed Recreation Fair, an open-house style event at The Grove Coffeehouse, in Independence, Oregon, on April 13. The event is free to attend.
 
28. Wine, Whiskey and Women Expo
Taste wine or whiskey and celebrate yourself along with the women next to you on April 13 at the Willamette Heritage Center in Salem. Enjoy a night of live music, shopping and celebrating with friends and new connections, while being encouraged and empowered. Tickets are required. 

29. Wooden Shoe Tulip Fest
Stroll through 40 acres of beautiful tulips while enjoying expansive views of vineyards and mountains. The Wooden Shoe Tulip Farm, in Woodburn, Oregon, will be open daily to visitors through April 29. Each year the flowers are arranged in a new pattern. There will also be food, wine tastings and children’s activities. Tickets are required.
 
30. World Beat Bash
Celebrate the cultures of India with the World Beat’s annual benefit celebration on April 6 at Scenic Valley Farms & Winery in Gervais, Oregon. Bollywood music, dancing, Mehndi, Indian cuisine and an auction are among the many things to experience! Tickets are required.
