Sports & Events Sales Manager

Travel Salem is seeking a highly motivated and seasoned sales manager responsible for promoting and selling the Salem region as a destination to sports and event planners on a local, regional, and national level with an emphasis on generating economic impact and city-wide overnight lodging. Must have three years group sales experience.

Other skills and experience needed include:

- Working with sporting and event groups
- Working with sporting and event venues
- Working with lodging properties (e.g. bids, contracts, housing)
- Clear and concise verbal and written communication
- Public speaking
- Networking and relationship building
- Leadership and consensus/team building
- Creative thinking and problem solving
- Technical and creative writing
- Organization
- Customer service skills
- Familiar with database and contact management programs
- Proficient with all Microsoft applications
- Knowledge of the Salem region

Vehicle required. Unencumbered Oregon drivers license. Ability to lift and carry 30#. Travel and evening and weekend hours. Full-time position, salary wage, benefits.

Guest Services Volunteer

Travel Salem is seeking volunteers with knowledge of the city of Salem and Marion and Polk Counties. Knowledge of the region's points of interest, as well as the ability to give accurate driving and walking directions is important. Knowledge of the region's events is helpful. Excellent hospitality/customer service skills are a must. Computer skills are important, along with internet search (Google) knowledge.

Other skills and experience needed include:

- Clear and concise verbal and written communication
- Phone skills
- Ability to use a cash register

This position is to assist the full-time Guest Services Coordinator, Melissa, as necessary. The Guest Services Volunteer will step in to help run the front desk and Visitors Center during the busy times or while Melissa is out of the office. Schedule can vary from a couple of hours a day to full days, or as the volunteer is available. Ideally, the volunteer would have a flexible schedule.
