Sports & Events Sales Manager

Travel Salem is seeking a highly motivated and seasoned sales manager responsible for promoting and selling the Salem region as a destination to sports and event planners on a local, regional, and national level with an emphasis on generating economic impact and city-wide overnight lodging. Must have three years group sales experience.

Graphic Designer & Online Coordinator

Responsible for overseeing Travel Salem’s online presence by creating effective resources & actionable information to promote the destination to visitors, residents, businesses and stakeholders. Serves as organization's in-house graphic designer, producing all materials in accordance with Travel Salem's brand guidelines.

Reports to Kara Kuh, Marketing and Public Relations Assistant Director

Design & Publications
  1. Design and update marketing materials (templates, newsletters, fliers, posters, ads, membership materials, etc).
  2. Coordinate with publisher and Travel Salem staff to produce the Official Salem Area Visitors Guide (e.g. collect, input and proof all listing information/content editorial and images)
  3. Design, create and distribute all e-communications (industry, consumer, events, etc); develop strategy to increase subscribers
  4. Design annual report for publication
  5. Coordinate creative asset library including logos, branding graphics, ads and other designed marketing materials.

 
TravelSalem.com

  1. Manage TravelSalem.com including all content (landing pages, advertisements, listings, etc); develop strategy to increase unique visits; manage outside contractors
  2. Work to ensure TravelSalem.com is in the top search engine rankings (SEO)
  3. Coordinate TravelSalem.com "outbound" advertising campaigns (e.g. Google ads, TripAdvisor)
  4. Coordinate TravelSalem.com "inbound" advertising (e.g. members, sponsors/advertisers).
  5. Track & analyze all website statistics and report trends to staff; make proactive recommendations on innovations & improvements
  6. Coordinate online merchant services
  7. Coordinate online resources (e.g. booking engine, SMS platform, itinerary builder)

Administration

  1. Complete monthly, quarterly, annual and consumer engagement reports (statistics, analytics, etc).
  2. Responsible for clerical needs. 

Miscellaneous Requirements

  1. Serve as Visitor Center back-up as needed.
  2. Work on special projects as determined by supervisor.
  3. Requires some evenings, weekends and travel.
  4. Vehicle required.
  5. Able to lift a minimum of 25 pounds.
  6. Participate in Travel Salem activities. 

Desired Experience

  1. Bachelor's degree in graphic design, art or related field.
  2. Associates or bachelor's degree in web design or computer science or experience with website work and functions.
  3. Excellent verbal and written communication skills with an emphasis on writing web content and e-newsletters.
  4. Experience working within brand guidelines for design, voice and tone.
  5. Strong computer skills and experience working within Adobe Creative Suite.
  6. Forward thinking and innovative

Destination Development Manager

Travel Salem is seeking a professional with strong product development and collaborative skills and experience. Knowledge of the tourism industry a plus. Position will facilitate and coordinate product development (e.g. festivals, events, attractions, tours, promotional materials) in Polk County. The position will also manage all social media platforms for tourism in Polk County.

Guest Services Volunteer

Travel Salem is seeking volunteers with knowledge of the city of Salem and Marion and Polk Counties. Knowledge of the region's points of interest, as well as the ability to give accurate driving and walking directions is important. Knowledge of the region's events is helpful. Excellent hospitality/customer service skills are a must. Computer skills are important, along with internet search (Google) knowledge.

- Phone skills
- Ability to use a cash register

This position is to assist the full-time Guest Services Coordinator, Melissa, as necessary. The Guest Services Volunteer will step in to help run the front desk and Visitors Center during the busy times or while Melissa is out of the office. Schedule can vary from a couple of hours a day to full days, or as the volunteer is available. Ideally, the volunteer would have a flexible schedule.
