Marketing & Development Coordinator
JOB TITLE: Marketing & Development Coordinator
DEPARTMENT: MarCom
FLSA: Full-Time, Non-Exempt
REPORTS TO: Chief Marketing Officer
Responsible for assisting the Chief Marketing Officer (CMO) with advertising, design, content creation, research, and special marketing and destination development projects.
MARKETING
Advertising
1. Work with CMO to implement the sports and conventions annual advertising plan (e.g., ad design, material creation)a. Create custom content for each ad to link on TravelSalem.com
2. Design/lay-out advertising materials (e.g., print ads, website banner ads)
3. Create and attach tracking Pixels to all appropriate ads
4. Track and report all advertising activity (e.g., impressions, pixels, hotel bookings, room revenue, click-throughs)
Publications & Content
1. Assist the Marketing Manager with the production of the Salem Area Visitors Guide (e.g., listings, content, data entry, photography)
2. Assist with creating marketing resources & content (e.g., sports/convention tradeshow booth, collateral material, promotional items, street teams)
3. Gather content for the Travel Salem Industry Newsletter
Photography & Video
1. Help maintain Travel Salem’s image library (upload photos and videos secured from partners and vendors ensuring all assets are properly labeled, organized, etc.).
Visitor Center
1. Serve as back-up in the Travel Salem Visitor Center
DESTINATION DEVELOPMENT AND RESEARCH
1. Develop, manage & evaluate an intern program for the Cultural & Heritage sector
2. Assist the CMO with various projects related to Destination Development initiatives (e.g., Salem Main Street Association, Resilient Headwaters, Great Oaks Food Trail).
3. Provide admin support for Destination Development initiatives (e.g., schedule meetings, take meeting notes, set agendas, etc)
4. Create itineraries and product that support the Travel Salem team (e.g., Culinary, Recreation, Cultural Heritage, Family-Friendly Attractions, hotel packages)
5. Assist with miscellaneous research projects (e.g., intercept study, meeting/sports survey compilation, meeting planners guide)
Administration
1. Design/layout all quarterly, annual & custom reports & plans (i.e., annual business plan)
2. Assist with monthly, quarterly and annual reports and strategic workplans
3. Participate in Travel Salem activities
Miscellaneous
1. Other duties as assigned by supervisor
2. Responsible for clerical needs
3. Requires some evenings, weekends and travel
4. Vehicle required and valid unencumbered Oregon Drivers License
5. Able to lift a minimum of 35 pounds
Desired Skills & Qualifications
• Degree in Marketing, Communications, Public Relations or related field preferred
• Outstanding oral and written communication skills (strong copywriting skills a must)
• Ability to prioritize and manage multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment
• Meticulous attention to detail
• Proficient in Adobe Creative Suite, specifically InDesign
This is a full-time, on-site position. Hourly wage plus benefits (health coverage, holidays/paid time off, 401(k) match).
