Travel Salem’s May 19 'Absolutely Fabulous' Awards luncheon is right around the corner and we are interested in receiving nominations from our membership! The Travel Salem Ab Fab awards recognize tourism industry partners who went above and beyond in 2015 to increase the economic impact of visitors. 

Marion County has announced the Job Creation Grant program which provides grants to eligible applicants to encourage investments in equipment or upgrades to industrial property that will result in the creation of new jobs in Marion County. Grant amounts range from $5,000 per new job created to a maximum grant amount of $50,000. Additional requirements apply.

How will HB 4146 impact the future of Oregon’s tourism industry? 

Oregon lawmakers passed HB 4146 on March 3, 2016. Effective July 1, 2016 the state transient lodging tax increases from 1 to 1.8 percent for four years and then effective July 1, 2020 reduces the state transient lodging tax from 1.8 to 1.5 percent. Legislation directs 20 percent of the state transient lodging tax to a Regional Cooperative Tourism Program and 10 percent to a competitive grants program.
