Tourism Summit Video
Travel Salem, in partnership with Travel Oregon, hosted a regional Tourism Summit on Thursday, January 14, 2010 at the Red Lion Hotel and Conference Center.
This Summit was a forum to discuss how tourism connects to businesses and powers local economies. A diverse panel was selected in an effort to put together a broad cross-section of expertise on a variety of issues (e.g. land use, industry, recruitment, retail, development, lodging, policy, education, etc.). Panelists included: Shelly Hansen, Confederated Tribes of the Grand Ronde; Steve Johnson, VIPs Industries; Austin McGuigan, Polk County Community Development; Stacy Palmer, Silverton Chamber of Commerce; Ray Burstedt, Strategic Economic Development Corporation; Steve McCoid, Oregon Restaurant Association; Teri Sunderland, Woodburn Company Stores; Craig Smith, Chemeketa Community College; and Hazel Patten, Community Volunteer.
