Local Iris Breeders Featured in Martha Stewart’s Living MagazineSalem, OR – April 24, 2008 – Schreiner’s Iris Gardens in Salem, Oregon are featured in an 8 page, full color article in the current May 2008 issue of Martha Stewart’s Living magazine. Photos of Schreiner’s Iris Gardens in Salem, Oregon are splashed across the national magazine, recognizing Schreiner’s for its beauty and for its scientific accomplishments. Outside of the tiny town of Keizer, Oregon an internationally recognized farm exists. The article in Living magazine highlights the work done at Schreiner’s Iris Gardens in developing new varieties of tall, bearded Iris. It takes 5 to 10 years of testing and propagation before a new iris variety can be introduced to the market, and Schreiner’s Iris Gardens has introduced over 807 varieties since they first began hybridizing iris in 1935. Come and see the amazing work that is being done in Salem, Oregon at Schreiner’s Iris Gardens. The results are attracting national attention. When the fields are in bloom (mid to late May through early June) the hybridizing work begins.
