Membership Benefits.

What's in it for you
With nearly $374.7 million in travel dollars spent in Marion and Polk Counties, visitors are some of the biggest spenders in town! This travel spending helps support retail stores, restaurants, museums, art galleries, recreational attractions, hotels and motels and more.
Membership in SCVA can help your business capture its share of the visitor dollar. In addition, your membership is vital to the economic growth and livability of our community. A healthy visitor industry increases the prosperity of local businesses and helps create new jobs. Oregon's visitor industry now generates $6.1 billion annually, and an estimated $134 million was spent in Salem in 2000 by visitors and convention delegates.

Publications and Brochures. You will be included in any applicable SCVA publication, such as the Salem Area Visitors Guide. Our publications are distributed through a variety of sources including information centers throughout the state, local hotels and attractions, AAA offices, tour operators, travel agents, convention and event delegates, visitors and current or potential area residents.

Visitor Center. Members may display their brochures in SCVA’s Visitor Center. Last year, the SCVA Visitor Center served nearly 30,000 visitors. The center is staffed with a knowledgeable Salem area resident who answers questions, makes suggestions and gives directions to the traveler.

www.TravelSalem.com. Your business is automatically listed on SCVA’s web page within your membership category with a free link to your own web page. Please take some time to explore the site. There are lots of useful resources on-line, such as an events calendar, maps, reports and research, as well as a private section of the site reserved just for SCVA members.

New Contacts/Customers. SCVA provides opportunities to make new contacts and meet potential clients or customers at our monthly membership luncheons and quarterly membership orientations. Our luncheons are both informative and lively, with guest speakers providing insight into the varied aspects of the visitor industry. Orientations provide an intimate look at SCVA’s marketing programs in a small group setting.

Newsletter. You will receive SCVA’s monthly email newsletter in the first week of each month, keeping you abreast of current trends and information pertaining to the visitor industry, SCVA events and meetings, opportunities for members, and more.

Weekly Events EMail. Each week, SCVA sends an email update on events coming to the area. As a member, you can include information in the events update by emailing your press release or event information to kkrause@travelsalem.com.

Referrals. At SCVA, we receive phone calls from all over the world seeking all kinds of information. SCVA refers these callers to our members. We also use member products and services for our Association needs.

Services. We provide free professional assistance for events and conferences during the planning process and on the day of the event, including assistance with registration, facility and lodging bookings, pre and post event tours, activities for convention delegates, exhibit and information booths and more! We use our members’ services to help make each convention perfect!
